A retirement community in Mud Bay that aims to blend independence and community living seamlessly with five individual 1-2 bedroom dwelling units and a large community house that is available to all of the dwelling units on the site. The buildings are nestled into the hill, blending in with low-sloped, planted roofs and natural materials.
Circulation around the site is on elevated wooden walkways with landscaped planters, connection to gardens, tree nooks, and sets of stairs that transition from public walking space to private deck space for the individual units.
The Community House provides a large communal kitchen, dining and living area, connected to the site with covered and uncovered decks and gardens. It also provides guest quarters for visitors in an effort to minimize under utilized rooms in the individual dwelling units.
The individual dwelling units provide a compact home, complete with a full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and washer/dryer. The goal of the dwelling units is to minimize furniture required to move in and have most typical furniture taken care of with built-ins.
